Ingredients

For the Pasta:
  • 10 ounces dry spaghetti
For the Alfredo Sauce:
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • Kosher salt to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup reserved pasta water (optional)
  • 2/3 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh parsley chopped (for garnish)

Equipment

  • Large pot
  • Skillet
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Wooden spoon
  • Grater
  • Colander

Method

Cooking Instructions:
  1. Step 1: Cook the Spaghetti - Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the dry spaghetti and cook according to the package instructions until al dente, about 8 to 10 minutes. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water, then drain and set aside.
  2. Step 2: Prepare the Alfredo Sauce - In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Step 3: Add Cream and Seasonings - Pour in the heavy cream, stirring well. Season with Kosher salt and black pepper. Let simmer for about 5 minutes until slightly thickened.
  4. Step 4: Incorporate the Cheese - Remove from heat and whisk in the freshly grated Parmesan cheese until melted. Add pasta water if the sauce is too thick.
  5. Step 5: Combine Pasta and Sauce - Add the cooked spaghetti to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce. Adjust creaminess with reserved pasta water if needed.
  6. Step 6: Serve and Garnish - Divide among plates and garnish with chopped fresh parsley. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Ensure to cook the spaghetti al dente for the best texture.
  • Freshly grated Parmesan melts better than pre-grated cheese.
  • For a lighter version, consider using half-and-half instead of heavy cream.
