Ingredients
  

For the Apple Bars:
  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1.5 teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 1.5 teaspoons Apple Pie Spice
  • 0.5 cup Challenge Unsalted Butter melted
  • 1.5 cups Light Brown Sugar slightly packed
  • 2 Large Eggs
  • 2 teaspoons Pure Vanilla Extract
  • 1.5 heaping cups Honey Crisp Apples peeled and chopped
  • 1.5 tablespoons Granulated Sugar for sprinkling on top

Method
 

Baking Instructions
  1. Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Step 2: Line a 9x13 inch baking pan with parchment paper and lightly grease it.
  3. Step 3: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and apple pie spice.
  4. Step 4: In another bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  5. Step 5: Gradually mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined.
  6. Step 6: Fold in the chopped apples gently.
  7. Step 7: Pour the batter into the pan, sprinkle with sugar and remaining apple pie spice, and bake for 30-35 minutes.
  8. Step 8: Allow to cool for 10 minutes, then lift out and cool completely on a wire rack before serving.

Notes

  • For a gluten-free version, use a 1:1 gluten-free flour blend.
  • Try adding chopped walnuts or pecans for an extra crunch.
  • These bars can be stored in the fridge for up to a week.
