Method

Instructions
  1. Step 1: Prepare the Sushi Rice - Cook your sushi rice according to the package instructions. Once cooked, transfer it to a mixing bowl and add any seasoning as per your preference. Allow the rice to cool to room temperature.
  2. Step 2: Set Up Your Workspace - Lay your bamboo sushi mat on a clean surface. Place one nori sheet, shiny side down, on the mat.
  3. Step 3: Spread the Rice - Wet your hands with water to prevent sticking, and take a handful of sushi rice. Spread it evenly over the nori, leaving about an inch at the top edge.
  4. Step 4: Add the Avocado - Arrange a few slices of ripe avocado in a line horizontally across the center of the rice-covered nori. Sprinkle sesame seeds over the avocado.
  5. Step 5: Roll It Up - Carefully lift the edge closest to you and begin to roll away from you, applying gentle pressure to keep the roll tight.
  6. Step 6: Slice the Roll - Using a sharp knife, slice the sushi roll into bite-sized pieces. Wet the knife between cuts for clean slices.
  7. Step 7: Serve and Enjoy - Arrange your sliced sushi rolls on a plate. Serve with soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger.

Notes

  • Store leftover sushi in an airtight container in the fridge.
  • For freezing, prepare rolls without avocado, then add fresh avocado when serving.
  • Experiment with adding other vegetables like cucumber for variety.
