Ingredients

  • 4 medium Bananas ripe
  • 1/2 cup Milk
  • 1 cup All-purpose Flour
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • Vegetable Oil for frying

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Whisk
  • Frying Pan or Deep Skillet
  • Slotted spoon
  • Paper towels

Method

  1. Peel the bananas and place them in a mixing bowl. Using a fork, mash the bananas until smooth but still slightly chunky.
  2. Add the milk to the mashed bananas and mix until well combined.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture, stirring gently until just combined.
  5. In a large skillet, pour enough vegetable oil to cover the bottom by about 1/2 inch and heat over medium heat.
  6. Drop heaping tablespoons of batter into the hot oil and fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  7. Transfer the fritters to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil. Serve warm, dusted with powdered sugar or drizzled with honey.

Notes

  • Use very ripe bananas for the best flavor.
  • If the batter is too thick, add a little extra milk.
  • Maintain consistent oil temperature to avoid greasy fritters.
  • Experiment with toppings like chocolate sauce or caramel.
