Ingredients

For the French Toast:
  • 8 slices brioche bread or any thick bread like challah or Texas toast
  • 3 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup milk whole milk or milk alternative
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon butter for griddle
  • 1/2 tablespoon jam, jelly, butter, maple syrup or honey to serve

Equipment

  • Large Mixing Bowl
  • Whisk
  • Griddle or skillet
  • Spatula
  • Serving Platter

Method

Instructions:
  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon until well-combined and slightly frothy.
  2. Preheat your griddle or skillet over medium heat. Add a small amount of butter to the surface once it’s hot, allowing it to melt and coat the bottom.
  3. Take a slice of brioche bread and dip it into the egg mixture, allowing it to soak for a few seconds on each side.
  4. Place the soaked bread onto the hot griddle. Cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  5. Once cooked, transfer the French toast to a serving platter. Top with your choice of jam, syrup, or a pat of butter. Enjoy warm!

Notes

  • Choosing the right bread is crucial; brioche is soft and rich.
  • Let the bread sit in the egg mixture long enough to absorb flavors.
  • Keep cooked toast warm in the oven while finishing the rest.
