Ingredients

  • 1 loaf French bread or Italian bread 14 oz
  • 1/4 cup salted butter softened
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tsp minced garlic or 1 tsp granulated garlic
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 1/4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/3 cup finely shredded parmesan cheese
  • 1 Tbsp finely chopped fresh parsley

Equipment

  • Oven
  • Baking sheet
  • Mixing bowl
  • Knife
  • Spatula

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). This ensures that your bread will toast evenly and to perfection.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, olive oil, minced garlic, salt, and freshly ground black pepper. Mix until well combined and creamy.
  3. Take your loaf of French or Italian bread and slice it in half lengthwise. If you prefer smaller pieces, you can slice it into individual portions.
  4. Using a knife, generously spread the garlic butter mixture over each half of the bread. Make sure to cover it evenly for maximum flavor.
  5. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the buttered bread, followed by the finely shredded parmesan cheese. Don’t hold back on the cheese; it’s what makes this bread so irresistible!
  6. Place the prepared bread halves on a baking sheet, then put them in the preheated oven. Bake for about 10-15 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and the edges of the bread are golden brown.
  7. Once you’ve removed the bread from the oven, sprinkle the finely chopped fresh parsley on top for a pop of color and freshness. Slice the bread into pieces and serve warm.

Notes

  • For best results, use fresh bread for optimal texture and flavor.
  • Be cautious not to burn the garlic while mixing with the butter.
  • Allow the bread to cool slightly before serving to avoid burns from the melted cheese.
