For the Garlic Butter:
  • 1 loaf soft French or Italian bread sliced in half horizontally
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 6 cloves garlic minced
  • 3 tablespoons fresh parsley finely chopped, divided
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
For the Cheese Topping:
  • 6 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese about 1-1/2 cups
  • 2 ounces shredded Parmesan cheese about 1/2 cup

Instructions
  1. Step 1: Prepare the Garlic Butter. In a mixing bowl, combine softened unsalted butter, minced garlic, 2 tablespoons of chopped parsley, kosher salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
  2. Step 2: Spread the Garlic Butter. Place the sliced loaf of bread cut side up on the baking sheet and generously spread the garlic butter mixture over both halves.
  3. Step 3: Add the Cheese. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella and then Parmesan cheese evenly over the buttered bread.
  4. Step 4: Broil the Bread. Preheat the broiler. Broil the bread for about 2-5 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  5. Step 5: Garnish and Serve. Remove from the oven, sprinkle with the remaining parsley, slice, and serve warm.

Notes

  • For best flavor, use fresh garlic instead of garlic powder.
  • Add a pinch of red pepper flakes for a spicy kick.
  • Watch closely while broiling to prevent burning.
