Ingredients

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 10 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips

Equipment

  • Measuring cups
  • Microwave-safe bowl or saucepan
  • Whisk or spatula
  • Storage Container

Method

  1. In a microwave-safe bowl or saucepan, heat 1 cup of heavy cream over medium heat until it begins to simmer. Watch closely to avoid boiling, as this can cause the cream to scorch.
  2. Once the cream is heated, remove it from the heat and add 10 ounces of semi-sweet chocolate chips to the bowl. Let it sit for about 2-3 minutes without stirring. This allows the chocolate to soften.
  3. Using a whisk or spatula, gently stir the mixture until the chocolate is completely melted and the ganache is smooth and glossy. If there are still unmelted bits, you can return it to the heat for a few seconds.
  4. Let the ganache cool slightly before using it as a glaze or frosting. If you want to use it as a filling, allow it to cool to room temperature and then refrigerate it until it thickens to your desired consistency.

Notes

  • Store leftover ganache in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
  • For a thicker ganache, use less cream or let it cool longer.
  • For a vegan alternative, substitute heavy cream with coconut cream and use dairy-free chocolate chips.
