Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 3/4 cup milk of choice (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp Dutch cocoa powder (or additional regular cocoa powder)
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1-2 tbsp peanut butter (or almond butter, or allergy-friendly substitute)
  • 1/4 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 ripe banana (optional)
  • 1/4 cup milk of choice or creamer (optional, like Nutpods creamer, which is unsweetened and dairy-free)

Equipment

  • Small Saucepan
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Stirring spoon
  • Bowl

Method

  1. In a small saucepan, combine the rolled oats, milk of choice, cocoa powder, Dutch cocoa powder (if using), and salt. Stir well to mix all the ingredients together.
  2. Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally until the oats have absorbed the milk and reached your desired consistency.
  3. Once your oatmeal is cooked, remove it from the heat. Stir in the peanut butter, sweetener of choice, and vanilla extract. If you prefer a creamier texture, add an additional splash of milk or creamer.
  4. Transfer the oatmeal to a bowl. If desired, slice up a ripe banana and add it to the top for extra sweetness and nutrition. You can also sprinkle on some nuts, seeds, or even a drizzle of Honey Sea Salt Peanut Butter for added flavor.

Notes

  • Customize your oatmeal by adding fruits, nuts, or seeds.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • If it gets too thick, stir in a bit more milk when reheating.
