Ingredients

  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup full-fat mayonnaise
  • 1 package Hidden Valley Original Ranch Salad Dressing & Seasoning Mix
  • 2 small tomatillos husks removed and cut in half
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 bunch fresh cilantro chopped
  • 1 small lime juiced
  • 1 jalapeño seeds removed for mild or keep them for spicy

Equipment

  • Blender or food processor
  • Measuring cups
  • Spatula
  • Storage Container

Method

  1. Gather all your ingredients on the counter. Having everything ready will make the process smooth and efficient.
  2. Cut the tomatillos in half and set them aside. These little green gems are the star of the show and will give your dressing that signature flavor.
  3. In your blender or food processor, combine the buttermilk, mayonnaise, ranch seasoning mix, halved tomatillos, garlic cloves, chopped cilantro, lime juice, and jalapeño.
  4. Blend the mixture on high until everything is well combined and smooth. You want a creamy consistency without any chunks.
  5. Taste your dressing and adjust the flavors as needed. If you want more heat, add a bit more jalapeño. If it’s too tangy, a little extra mayonnaise can balance it out.
  6. Transfer the dressing to a storage container and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving. This allows the flavors to meld beautifully.

Notes

  • Store the dressing in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5-7 days.
  • To adjust thickness after refrigerating, stir in a little buttermilk.
  • Avoid low-fat mayonnaise or buttermilk for the best creamy texture.
  • Consider adding honey for a sweet twist during holidays.
  • This dressing is best enjoyed cold, drizzled over your favorite dishes.
