Ingredients

For the Salad:
  • 2 packages chicken-flavor ramen noodles (3-oz each)
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup white vinegar
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 package broccoli slaw (12-oz)
  • 1 Red Delicious apple (cored and diced)
  • 1 cup sunflower kernels
  • 1 cup sweetened dried cranberries
  • 1 bunch green onions (chopped)
  • 1 piece red bell pepper (chopped)
  • 1 cup slivered almonds
  • 1 whole rotisserie chicken (deboned and chopped)

Equipment

  • Large Mixing Bowl
  • Whisk
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Serving spoon

Method

Instructions:
  1. Begin by cooking the ramen noodles according to the package instructions. Once cooked, drain and set aside. You can choose to break the noodles into smaller pieces for added crunch.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the vegetable oil, white vinegar, and sugar until well combined. This dressing is what brings everything together, so make sure it’s well mixed.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, add the cooked ramen noodles, broccoli slaw, diced apple, sunflower kernels, dried cranberries, chopped green onions, red bell pepper, slivered almonds, and chopped rotisserie chicken.
  4. Pour the dressing over the salad ingredients and toss everything together until well coated. Ensure that all ingredients are evenly distributed for a harmonious flavor in every bite.
  5. For best results, let the salad chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving. This helps the flavors meld together beautifully.

Notes

  • Prep ingredients a day in advance; wait to add dressing until serving.
  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Consider doubling the recipe for larger gatherings.
