Instructions:
- Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). This ensures your donuts bake evenly.
- Step 2: Lightly grease your donut pan with cooking spray or butter to prevent sticking.
- Step 3: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, dark brown sugar, salt, cocoa powder, and baking powder until well combined.
- Step 4: In another bowl, beat the egg and then add in the melted butter, vanilla extract, and milk. Mix until smooth.
- Step 5: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are okay!
- Step 6: Using a piping bag or a spoon, fill each cavity of the donut pan about halfway full. This allows room for the donuts to rise.
- Step 7: Place the donut pan in the preheated oven and bake for about 10-12 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Step 8: Let the donuts cool in the pan for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a cooling rack to cool completely.
- Step 9: In a medium bowl, whisk together the confectioners' sugar, cocoa powder, heavy cream, and a pinch of salt until smooth. If the glaze is too thick, add more cream, a tablespoon at a time, until you reach your desired consistency.
- Step 10: Once the donuts are completely cool, dip the tops into the glaze and let any excess drip off.
- Step 11: While the glaze is still wet, sprinkle with rainbow sprinkles for that extra pop of color and fun!
Notes
- Make sure your ingredients are at room temperature for the best results.
- These donuts are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for a couple of days.
- For a gluten-free version, substitute the all-purpose flour with a 1:1 gluten-free baking blend.
