Ingredients

  • 6 oz crab meat drained well
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened to room temperature
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp mayo
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 24 small wonton wrappers
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Frying pan or deep fryer
  • Slotted spoon
  • Paper towels
  • Baking sheet

Method

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, drained crab meat, onion powder, garlic powder, mayo, and soy sauce. Mix until all ingredients are thoroughly combined, creating a smooth filling.
  2. Lay out your wonton wrappers on a clean surface. Place about one tablespoon of the cream cheese mixture in the center of each wrapper. Be careful not to overfill.
  3. Moisten the edges of the wonton wrappers with a little water. Fold the wrapper over the filling to create a triangle shape. Press the edges firmly to seal.
  4. In a frying pan or deep fryer, heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  5. Carefully add a few wontons to the hot oil, frying them for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Remove the wontons from the oil and transfer them to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • For a healthier option, you can bake the wontons instead of frying them.
  • Feel free to customize the filling with different proteins or vegetables.
  • Refrigerate any leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
