Making the Donuts:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 3 cups of Krusteaz Buttermilk Pancake Mix and a pinch of salt. Gradually add in 1 cup of milk, mixing until you have a smooth batter.
- In a deep fryer or large pot, heat 3 cups of neutral oil over medium heat until it reaches about 350°F (175°C).
- Using a donut cutter, cut out shapes from the batter. Carefully drop each donut into the hot oil, frying in batches.
- Fry the donuts for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to remove them from the oil.
- Prepare the glaze by whisking together 1 1/2 cups of powdered sugar, 4 tablespoons of cocoa powder, 4-5 tablespoons of milk, and 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract in a mixing bowl until smooth.
- Once the donuts are cooled, dip the tops into the glaze and allow any excess to drip off before placing them back on the cooling rack.
Notes
- Ensure oil is at the right temperature; too hot will burn them.
- Experiment with flavors by adding spices like cinnamon.
- Store unglazed donuts in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
