Instructions
- Step 1: Prepare the Popcorn - Begin by popping the popcorn according to the package instructions. Once popped, carefully remove any unpopped kernels and place the popcorn into a large mixing bowl.
- Step 2: Melt the Marshmallows - In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the mini marshmallows, butter (or margarine), corn syrup, and cold water. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until the mixture is smooth and melted.
- Step 3: Mix in the Sugar - Once melted, stir in the powdered sugar until fully incorporated. The mixture will be thick and sticky, which is exactly what you want for your Easy Popcorn Balls.
- Step 4: Combine Everything - Pour the melted marshmallow mixture over the popcorn in the large bowl. Use a rubber spatula to gently fold the popcorn into the marshmallow mixture until every kernel is coated. If you’re using food coloring, add a few drops now and mix until the color is evenly distributed.
- Step 5: Form the Balls - To prevent sticking, lightly butter your hands. Take a handful of the popcorn mixture and shape it into a ball, about the size of a tennis ball. Repeat this process until all the mixture has been shaped into balls.
- Step 6: Cool and Enjoy - Place the formed popcorn balls onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Allow them to cool completely before serving. This will help them set and hold their shape.
Notes
- For a festive touch, customize with food coloring and themed candies.
- Store popcorn balls in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
- Use butter on your hands to prevent the mixture from sticking.
