Build Focaccia Step by Step
- Step 1: Prepare the Dough - In a large mixing bowl, combine the bread flour, kosher salt, sugar or honey, and instant yeast. Make a well in the center and pour in the warm water and olive oil. Use a wooden spoon or spatula to mix until a sticky dough forms.
- Step 2: Knead and Rise - Cover the bowl with a kitchen towel or plastic wrap and let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 to 2 hours, or until it has doubled in size.
- Step 3: Shape the Dough - Drizzle some extra virgin olive oil onto your baking sheet or pan. Transfer the risen dough onto the oiled surface and gently stretch it to fit the pan, being careful not to deflate it too much.
