Ingredients

For the Noodles:
  • 3 oz. ramen noodle packet Any flavor, discard the seasoning packet.
  • 1 tsp. vegetable oil For sautéing garlic.
  • 1 tsp. minced garlic Fresh garlic adds flavor.
  • 2 tbsp. soy sauce For salty umami kick.
  • 1 tbsp. brown sugar Adds sweetness.
  • Sesame seeds For garnish.
  • Chopped green onions For freshness.
  • Hot sauce Optional for spice.

Equipment

  • Large pot
  • Skillet or frying pan
  • Measuring spoons
  • Colander
  • Mixing spoon

Method

Cooking Steps:
  1. Begin by bringing a large pot of water to a boil. Once boiling, add the ramen noodles and cook according to package instructions, usually about 3-4 minutes.
  2. Once the noodles are cooked, pour them into a colander to drain. Rinse the noodles under cold water to stop the cooking process and to remove excess starch.
  3. In a skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add the cooked noodles to the skillet with the sautéed garlic. Pour in the soy sauce and add the brown sugar. Toss everything together until the noodles are well coated and heated through.
  5. Transfer the Garlic Sesame Noodles to a serving bowl. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions for garnish. Drizzle with hot sauce if desired.

Notes

  • For a gluten-free option, use gluten-free rice noodles.
  • Substitute vegetable oil with sesame oil for richer flavor.
  • Store leftover noodles in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
