Ingredients

  • 1 cup plain whole milk kefir (goat milk kefir) A probiotic-rich base that supports gut health.
  • 1 cup non-dairy milk of choice (coconut milk) Adds creaminess and a subtle sweetness.
  • 1 large ripe banana Naturally sweetens the smoothie while providing potassium.
  • 4 ice cubes For that refreshing chill.
  • 1 to 2 leaves kale (chopped) Packed with vitamins and minerals, adding a nutritional punch.
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons fresh ginger (peeled and grated) Offers a zesty flavor and aids digestion.
  • 2 teaspoons honey A natural sweetener that complements the other flavors.
  • 4 to 6 leaves fresh mint Adds a refreshing flair to the smoothie.
  • 2 teaspoons green tea matcha powder Rich in antioxidants and gives a vibrant color.

Equipment

  • Blender
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Chopping board and knife
  • Tall glass or mason jar

Method

  1. Gather all your ingredients on the counter. This helps streamline the blending process.
  2. Wash the kale leaves thoroughly and chop them into smaller pieces. Peel and grate the fresh ginger, adjusting the amount to your taste preference.
  3. In your blender, add the goat milk kefir, coconut milk, ripe banana, ice cubes, chopped kale, grated ginger, honey, fresh mint leaves, and matcha powder.
  4. Blend on high speed until all ingredients are well combined and the mixture is smooth and creamy. You may need to stop and scrape down the sides to ensure everything is incorporated.
  5. Give your smoothie a taste. If you’d like it sweeter, add a bit more honey. For additional creaminess, consider adding more coconut milk.
  6. Pour the Healthy Gut Smoothie into a tall glass or mason jar. Garnish with a sprig of mint or a sprinkle of matcha powder if you’re feeling fancy. Enjoy immediately for the best flavor and texture!

Notes

  • For a vegan option, use plant-based kefir and substitute honey with maple syrup or agave nectar.
  • If you’re avoiding sugar, you can omit the honey entirely or use a sugar-free sweetener.
  • For a protein boost, add a scoop of your favorite protein powder.
