Ingredients

For the Chicken:
  • 4 pieces chicken quarters (legs with thighs attached)
  • ¾ cup Lee Kum Kee Hoisin Sauce
  • ¾ cup barbecue sauce
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • Green onions (for garnish)

Equipment

  • Large Mixing Bowl
  • Baking dish or sheet pan
  • Meat thermometer
  • Whisk

Method

Instructions:
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the Hoisin Sauce, barbecue sauce, soy sauce, garlic powder, ginger, salt, and pepper. Whisk until all ingredients are well incorporated.
  2. Add the chicken quarters to the bowl, making sure they are well coated in the marinade. Cover the bowl and let it marinate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 4 hours in the refrigerator for deeper flavor.
  3. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). This high temperature will help caramelize the sugars in the sauce, giving your chicken a beautiful glaze.
  4. Place the marinated chicken quarters skin-side up in a baking dish or on a sheet pan lined with parchment paper. Bake in the preheated oven for about 45-55 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C). For a crispy skin, broil for the last 5 minutes.
  5. Once cooked, remove the chicken from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes. Garnish with chopped green onions before serving. Enjoy your flavorful Hoisin Chicken with a side of steamed rice or roasted vegetables!

Notes

  • Marinate the chicken for deeper flavor, up to 4 hours.
  • For extra crispiness, broil the chicken for the last 5 minutes.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
