Ingredients

  • 40 pieces precooked frozen meatballs
  • 2 cans San Marzano crushed tomatoes 15 oz each
  • 2 cans tomato paste 6 oz each
  • 2 teaspoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon Italian herbs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

Equipment

  • Large pot or saucepan
  • Wooden spoon
  • Measuring spoons
  • Serving dish

Method

  1. In your large pot or saucepan, combine the 2 cans of San Marzano crushed tomatoes and 2 cans of tomato paste. Stir them together over medium heat until they are well incorporated.
  2. Add the granulated sugar, onion powder, garlic powder, Italian herbs, salt, and black pepper to the pot. Stir to mix all the spices throughout the sauce evenly. The sugar helps cut the acidity of the tomatoes, giving you a balanced flavor.
  3. Once your sauce is simmering, carefully add the frozen meatballs directly into the pot. Stir gently to coat them in the sauce.
  4. Reduce the heat to low and cover the pot. Allow the meatballs to simmer in the sauce for about 25-30 minutes. Stir occasionally to ensure that the meatballs are heated evenly and the sauce doesn’t stick to the bottom.
  5. Once the meatballs are heated through and the sauce is bubbling, it’s time to serve! You can enjoy them over pasta, on a sub roll, or with a sprinkle of fresh basil or grated parmesan on top.

Notes

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Freeze meatballs in sauce for up to 3 months for quick future meals.
  • Consider adding vegetables like bell peppers or mushrooms for extra flavor.
