  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter for brushing

Method
 

Instructions:
  1. Step 1: Preheat the Oven - Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
  2. Step 2: Prepare Your Dry Ingredients - Whisk together the self-rising flour, sugar, and cream of tartar in a mixing bowl.
  3. Step 3: Cut in the Butter - Add the chilled butter to the flour mixture and cut it in until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Step 4: Incorporate the Buttermilk - Pour in the buttermilk and stir gently until just combined.
  5. Step 5: Shape the Dough - Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and pat it into a rectangle about 1-inch thick.
  6. Step 6: Cut Out Biscuits - Use a biscuit cutter to cut out biscuits and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Step 7: Brush with Melted Butter - Brush the tops of the biscuits with melted butter.
