Ingredients

  • 3 pieces ripe bananas
  • 1/3 cup butter melted
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg lightly beaten
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Whisk or fork
  • Rubber spatula
  • Loaf pan
  • Oven mitts

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mash the ripe bananas with a fork or potato masher until smooth.
  3. Add the melted butter to the mashed bananas and mix until well combined. Stir in the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract.
  4. Sprinkle the baking soda and salt over the mixture and stir to combine. Gradually add the all-purpose flour, mixing just until the flour disappears.
  5. Gently fold in the mini chocolate chips using a rubber spatula.
  6. Pour the batter into your prepared loaf pan, smoothing the top with the spatula.
  7. Place the loaf pan in the preheated oven and bake for 60-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Once baked, remove the banana bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes.
  9. Transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

Notes

  • Use very ripe bananas for the best sweetness and moisture.
  • Store wrapped tightly at room temperature for up to 3 days.
  • Freeze individual slices for a quick snack later.
