Ingredients

  • 1 cup Oreo crumbs (about 10 Oreo cookies crushed)
  • 16 tablespoons unsalted butter (at room temperature)
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 to 4 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Hand Mixer or Stand Mixer
  • Spatula
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Method

  1. Gather all your ingredients and allow the unsalted butter to come to room temperature.
  2. Using a food processor or a plastic bag and a rolling pin, crush the 10 Oreo cookies until they become fine crumbs.
  3. In a mixing bowl, add the room temperature butter and beat it with your mixer on medium speed until it’s light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Gradually add the powdered sugar to the creamed butter, mixing on low speed until fully incorporated.
  5. Mix in the vanilla extract and 2 tablespoons of heavy cream. Beat the mixture until smooth.
  6. Gently fold in the Oreo crumbs and salt with a spatula until evenly distributed throughout the frosting.
  7. Give your frosting a taste test! If you want it sweeter, add a bit more powdered sugar. If it’s too thick, add a splash more of heavy cream.
  8. Use your Oreo frosting to frost cupcakes, cakes, or cookies. Enjoy the creamy, cookie-filled goodness!

Notes

  • Ensure the butter is at room temperature for the best texture.
  • Store leftover frosting in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
  • Try adding different flavors like peppermint extract for seasonal variations!
