Ingredients

  • 3 cups old-fashioned oats
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup butter, melted (allow to cool slightly before adding)
  • 1/4 cup water

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Measuring cups
  • Wooden spoon or spatula
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Paper Bag

Method

  1. Start by measuring out all your ingredients carefully. It’s important to use the correct amounts to achieve the perfect cookie texture.
  2. Take your paper bag and combine the old-fashioned oats, brown sugar, all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt directly in the bag. Seal the bag and shake it gently to mix everything together evenly.
  3. In a separate bowl, melt your butter and allow it to cool slightly. Once cooled, pour the melted butter and water into the paper bag. Seal the bag again and shake vigorously until the mixture is well combined and forms a dough.
  4. Using a spoon or cookie scoop, drop spoonfuls of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Make sure to leave enough space between each cookie to allow for spreading.
  5. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the cookies for 10-12 minutes or until they are lightly golden brown. Keep an eye on them, as every oven is different.
  6. Once baked, remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Enjoy your freshly baked Paper Bag Oatmeal Cookies with a glass of milk or your favorite hot beverage!

Notes

  • For a gooey twist, add chocolate chips to the dough.
  • Incorporate dried fruits like cranberries or raisins for added texture.
  • Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
