Ingredients

  • 6-7 cups popped popcorn (seeds removed from 1/3 cup unpopped kernels)
  • 1 1/2 cups nuts (peanuts, almonds, or a mix)
  • 1 cup Reese’s Pieces
  • 2/3 cup chopped Hershey’s candy bars
  • 1 cup Muddy Buddies (from a prepared pack of Chex Mix Muddy Buddies)
  • 1/4 cup peanut butter
  • 12 ounces white candy melts (make sure to use a good quality brand)

Equipment

  • Large Mixing Bowl
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Microwave-safe bowl
  • Spatula

Method

  1. Start by popping your popcorn. If you're using an air popper, great! If not, you can pop it on the stove or in the microwave. Just make sure to remove any unpopped kernels after popping to avoid any unpleasant surprises.
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. This will help prevent the popcorn from sticking and make cleanup a breeze.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the popped popcorn, nuts, Reese’s Pieces, chopped Hershey’s bars, and Muddy Buddies. Toss everything together until evenly distributed.
  4. In a microwave-safe bowl, add the white candy melts and peanut butter. Heat in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until smooth and fully melted.
  5. Pour the melted peanut butter and candy mixture over the popcorn mixture. Using a spatula, gently toss the popcorn until it's evenly coated. Make sure to work quickly so that the mixture doesn’t harden before you’re done!
  6. Spread the coated popcorn mixture onto the prepared baking sheet. Use the spatula to flatten it out into an even layer. Let it cool for about 30 minutes, or until the chocolate sets.
  7. Once cooled, break the popcorn into clusters and serve! You can store any leftovers in an airtight container for later enjoyment.

Notes

  • Use fresh popcorn kernels for the best popping results and flavor.
  • Experiment with different types of nuts—cashews, walnuts, or pecans can add unique flavors.
  • For a touch of saltiness, sprinkle some sea salt on top before the popcorn cools.
  • If you want a little more chocolatey goodness, drizzle some melted dark chocolate over the cooled popcorn.
