Ingredients

For the Oreo Crust:
  • 17 pieces Oreos crushed
  • 3 tablespoons butter melted
For the Peanut Butter Layer:
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream whipped
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 4 ounces cream cheese low-fat or regular
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter creamy
  • 2 tablespoons milk non-fat or preferred variety
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • to taste Mini Peanut Butter Cups for garnish

Equipment

  • Mixing bowls
  • Electric mixer
  • Trifle dish or glass cups
  • Spatula
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Method

Instructions:
  1. Start by crushing the 17 Oreos into fine crumbs. Combine the crushed Oreos with the melted butter until the mixture resembles wet sand.
  2. In a separate mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Add in the peanut butter, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract. Mix until everything is well combined and creamy.
  3. In another bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Gently fold this whipped cream into the peanut butter mixture.
  4. In your trifle dish or glass cups, layer the Oreo crust, peanut butter mixture, and whipped cream. Repeat until ingredients are used up, finishing with whipped cream on top.
  5. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight. Garnish with mini peanut butter cups before serving.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, use reduced-fat cream cheese and whipped topping.
  • Do not overwhip the cream; soft peaks are ideal.
  • Substitute Oreos with any chocolate sandwich cookies if desired.
