Ingredients

  • 3 oz smoked salmon high-quality
  • 2 tablespoons garlic and herb cream cheese e.g., Boursin
  • 2 teaspoons red onion finely chopped
  • 2 teaspoons chives finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest adds brightness
  • freshly cracked black pepper for seasoning

Equipment

  • Small spoons
  • Mixing bowl
  • Chef’s knife
  • Microplane
  • Serving Platter

Method

  1. Gather and prepare all your ingredients. Finely chop the red onion and chives, and zest your lemon.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the garlic and herb cream cheese with the chopped red onion, chives, and lemon zest. Stir well until everything is evenly mixed.
  3. Take your small spoons and add a generous dollop of the cream cheese mixture to each one.
  4. Cut the smoked salmon into small pieces or strips. Place a piece on top of the cream cheese in each spoon, allowing it to cascade slightly for a beautiful presentation.
  5. Finish by sprinkling freshly cracked black pepper over the top. Arrange the spoons on a serving platter and serve immediately, or chill them in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

Notes

  • Use high-quality smoked salmon for the best flavor.
  • Assemble just before serving to maintain freshness.
  • Feel free to substitute ingredients if necessary, like using plain cream cheese with garlic powder.
