  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ teaspoon almond extract
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • Gel food coloring (your choice of colors)
  • Colorful sprinkles

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Electric mixer
  • Cookie Press or Piping Bag
  • Baking sheet
  • Spatula

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar using an electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add the egg, almond extract, and vanilla extract to the mixture. Mix until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing on low speed until just combined.
  5. Divide the dough into portions and mix in gel food coloring to achieve your desired shades.
  6. Using a cookie press or piping bag, pipe the dough onto a prepared baking sheet, forming various shapes.
  7. Sprinkle colorful sprinkles on top of each cookie before baking.
  8. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  9. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Ensure butter is at room temperature for best texture.
  • If dough is too soft, refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  • Experiment with different shapes and sizes for fun variations.
