Ingredients

For the Kimchi Butter:
  • 1/4 cup prepared kimchi finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon miso paste
  • 1/2 cup butter softened
For the Steak:
  • 4 steaks of your choice ribeye, sirloin, or filet mignon
  • 12 ounces fresh mushrooms sliced
  • 2 teaspoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chives minced
  • 1/4 cup prepared kimchi for garnish (optional)

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Skillet or grill pan
  • Spatula or tongs
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Meat thermometer

Method

Instructions
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, finely chopped kimchi, miso paste, and minced chives. Mix until well blended and set aside at room temperature.
  2. Season your steaks with salt and pepper. Heat a skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat and cook the steaks to your desired doneness, about 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare.
  3. In the same skillet, add the sliced mushrooms drizzled with soy sauce and sauté for about 5-7 minutes until golden brown.
  4. Let the steaks rest for a few minutes, then top each with kimchi butter and serve with sautéed mushrooms on the side.

Notes

  • Prepare kimchi butter a day in advance and refrigerate.
  • Let the butter come to room temperature before use.
  • Use a meat thermometer to avoid overcooking the steak.
