Ingredients
  

For the Cookies:
  • 1 cup margarine softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon real vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 stick real butter softened
For the Frosting:
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cream or whole milk

Method
 

Baking Instructions:
  1. Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) for even baking.
  2. Step 2: In a large bowl, cream together the margarine, butter, and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Step 3: Add in the eggs and vanilla extract, whisking until well combined.
  4. Step 4: In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually mix into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  5. Step 5: Drop rounded balls of dough onto parchment-lined baking sheets, about 2 inches apart.
  6. Step 6: Bake for 8-10 minutes until edges are lightly golden and centers look slightly undercooked.
  7. Step 7: Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  8. Step 8: For frosting, mix powdered sugar, cream or milk, and vanilla until smooth.
  9. Step 9: Frost cooled cookies and decorate as desired!

Notes

  • Use room temperature butter for better mixing.
  • Let cookies cool properly; it helps them set.
  • For softer cookies, slightly underbake and cool on the sheet.
