In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of tomato sauce, 1/2 cup of water, and 2 tablespoons of white vinegar. This forms the base of your taco sauce.
Add 1 teaspoon each of ground cumin, onion powder, and garlic powder to the bowl. Then, sprinkle in 1/2 teaspoon of chili powder and paprika.
Add 1/2 teaspoon of granulated sugar to the mix. If you like a bit of heat, include 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper.
Add salt to taste. Start with a little, and adjust as needed.
Using a whisk or spoon, mix all the ingredients together until they are well combined and smooth.
Give your sauce a taste and adjust any seasonings if necessary.
Transfer your taco sauce to a storage jar and seal it tightly. It can be refrigerated for up to two weeks.
