  • 8 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 3 tablespoons heavy whipping cream (more if needed)

Equipment

  • Stand mixer
  • Spatula
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Large Mixing Bowl

Method

Instructions:
  1. Step 1: Beat the Butter - Place the room temperature unsalted butter in your mixing bowl. Beat on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
  2. Step 2: Gradually Add Powdered Sugar - Gradually add the powdered sugar, one cup at a time, mixing on low speed to prevent a sugar cloud. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.
  3. Step 3: Incorporate Vanilla and Salt - Add the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt. Mix until well combined.
  4. Step 4: Add Heavy Whipping Cream - Start with 3 tablespoons of heavy whipping cream, mixing on medium speed until light and airy. Add more cream if needed.
  5. Step 5: Final Whip - Give your frosting a final whip on high speed for about 1-2 minutes for a super fluffy and smooth texture.

Notes

  • Store leftover frosting in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
  • Bring refrigerated frosting to room temperature and re-whip before using.
  • Freeze for up to three months, thawing overnight in the fridge before use.
