Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground breakfast sausage
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 cups milk
  • 6 eggs, beaten and seasoned
  • 1 lb frozen diced hash brown potatoes
  • 16.3 oz refrigerated tube biscuits, quartered
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Mixing bowl
  • Baking dish
  • Whisk
  • Spatula

Method

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground breakfast sausage. Use a spatula to break it apart as it cooks. Sauté until it’s browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess grease if necessary.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, and pepper until well combined. This creamy mixture will be the base of your casserole.
  3. In your greased baking dish, layer the frozen hash brown potatoes evenly across the bottom. Next, sprinkle the cooked sausage over the potatoes. Pour the egg mixture over this layer. Finally, scatter the quartered biscuits on top, followed by the shredded cheddar cheese.
  4. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the casserole in the oven and bake for 45-55 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean. The aroma will be irresistible!
  5. Once baked, allow the casserole to cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve warm and watch as your family digs in with smiles on their faces.

Notes

  • Assemble the casserole the night before and refrigerate for easy baking in the morning.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • This dish can also be frozen for later—just thaw overnight before reheating.
